The Busman's Holiday Roger meets Reinhart |
| Here I am in front of Reinhard's house with his two dogs, Diana (right) and her pup Acho. It's
a really nice house with lots of crayfish living inside. |
| This is Reinhard with Diana and Acho in one of his crayfish raising facilities. Reinhard calls this the hatchery. The tanks have a three stage setup with graved females at the top in tanks that allow the young to past through to a middle tank where they grow a little bigger after which Reinhard moves them to the lower tank. When they get large enough, Reinhard moves them out to ponds and streams where crayfish plague is absent and they can grow and reproduce on their own. | ![]() |
| This is my favorite. Reinhard calls these crayfish condos. Reinhard reports that he can keep numerous individuals in the same tank as long as there are enough condos for everybody. I wish I had this much room for crayfish work. | |
A gravid female Astacus astacus ready for the rearing tanks. |
| Astacus leptodactylus male, one of the species of European crayfish Reinhard raises. |
