Nice guy, understanding but firm.

Recently I was checked by Fisheries Officers at two different locations on two consecutive fishing outings. The first time was on Saturday at Lake Purrumbeet in Victoria and the second time was on Port Phillip Bay three days later. It's worth noting that there out there doing there job.

Unfortunately for me on my second outing I didn't have my Recreational Fishing Licence with me, so what happens? Well first you have to prove your identity, secondly you have to answer a bunch of questions and thirdly you have to mail in the original copy of your licence for verification. To cut a long story short carry your licence on you if your fishing.

It's worth noting that there are size limits on crayfish ( salt and freshwater ), if in doubt leave the crayfish where you find them. Permits are available for serious collectors doing scientific research. I've had such permits in the past and Fisheries strictly enforce there requirements.

Don't think you can get away with it.
