Spiny crayfish, Euastacus woriwuru

Woriwuru. Euastacus woriwuru This is another attractive cray. They are bright red with blue claws. They range from Mount Disappointment in the north to Bunyip south east of Melbourne. They don't grow very big and do not reach legal fishing size. For further detailed information on distribution, behavior etc, try the Department of Natural Resources and Environment under Fisheries Notes, Spiny freshwater crayfish. They have some excellent drawing which may help novices like me identify their catch.
