Bob Hall of NFA has been looking after the crayfish exhibits at the hatchery. On the 4th of October 1999, the first baby Murray Crays hatched. They are minute and these images of a day old cray were taken using a microscope. As small as they are it is easy to tell they are crayfish. All appendges are developed, claws, eyes, antenna etc.

They are detritus feeders ( like rotting stuff ) and they will be fed on rotting leaves and mud from a nearby creek.

I hope to be able to continue this series and I will attempt to take a new set of photographs each week as the fry develop.
